Can you source the wallpaper, or should I bring my own?

We can work with wallpaper you've already purchased, or we can help you source materials from our trusted suppliers. We have access to a wide range of residential and commercial wallcoverings, including designer brands, eco-friendly options, and specialty materials like grasscloth and vinyl.

How long does installation take?

Most single-room installations are completed in one day. Larger projects, such as full-home or commercial spaces, may take 2–5 days depending on scope, wall prep requirements, and material complexity. We'll provide a detailed timeline during your free consultation.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Scott Wallpaper Installers is fully licensed and insured in the state of New York. We carry general liability insurance and can provide certificates of insurance for commercial projects upon request.

My home is in Newark — is that too far?

Not at all! Newark is one of our primary service areas. We regularly complete residential and commercial wallpaper installations throughout Newark and the surrounding neighborhoods. Learn more about our Newark services.

I'm in Jersey City — can you take on my project?

I live in Elizabeth — is that within your coverage area?

Yes! Elizabeth is one of the communities we serve regularly. We provide the same high-quality wallpaper installation services to Elizabeth residents as we do throughout the greater New York area. Check out our Elizabeth page.

How much does wallpaper installation cost?

Pricing depends on several factors: the size of the area, the type of wallpaper, wall condition, and any prep work required. We provide free, detailed estimates after an in-person or virtual consultation. Most residential projects range from $3–$8 per square foot for labor, not including materials.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we require a 50% deposit to secure your installation date. The remaining balance is due upon completion of the project. For larger commercial projects, we can discuss customized payment schedules.

Do my walls need to be prepped before installation?

Proper wall preparation is essential for a long-lasting installation. We handle all prep work, including patching holes, sanding rough spots, applying primer, and removing old wallpaper or adhesive residue. Wall prep is included in our estimate.

Can you help me choose the right wallpaper?

While we're not interior designers, we have extensive experience with all types of wallcoverings and can advise on material suitability for your specific walls and environment. We can also recommend trusted design partners in the New York area if you need full design consultation.

How far in advance should I schedule my installation?

We recommend booking 1–2 weeks in advance for residential projects and 2–4 weeks for commercial work. During peak seasons (spring and fall), scheduling further ahead is advisable. We do our best to accommodate urgent requests when possible.

Do you offer a warranty or guarantee?

Yes. We stand behind our work with a 2-year warranty on all installations. If any seams lift, bubbles appear, or edges peel due to workmanship issues, we'll come back and fix it at no charge. This warranty covers labor only — material defects should be addressed with the manufacturer.

How do you handle pattern matching?

Pattern matching is one of the most critical aspects of wallpaper installation, and it's where our experience really shows. We carefully calculate pattern repeats, plan seam placement to minimize waste, and ensure patterns align perfectly across walls, corners, and around obstacles like windows and doors.

Can you install wallpaper in a new construction home?

Absolutely. We frequently work on new construction projects throughout the New York area. New drywall requires specific preparation — including proper priming and curing time — to ensure the wallpaper adheres correctly and can be removed cleanly in the future. We coordinate directly with builders to ensure timing is right.

What about older homes with plaster walls?

We have extensive experience working with older homes and plaster walls, which require different preparation techniques than modern drywall. We assess the wall condition, repair any cracks or loose plaster, and use appropriate primers and adhesives to ensure a perfect result. Learn more about our historic home services.

Do you install peel-and-stick wallpaper?

Yes, we install all types of wallpaper, including peel-and-stick (self-adhesive) varieties. While peel-and-stick is marketed as a DIY product, professional installation ensures bubble-free application, perfect alignment, and a finish that looks seamless — especially on large walls or around tricky obstacles.

Can wallpaper be installed in bathrooms or kitchens?

Yes, but material selection is important. We recommend vinyl or vinyl-coated wallpapers for high-moisture areas like bathrooms and kitchens. These materials resist humidity and are easy to clean. We'll advise you on the best options during your consultation.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand plans change. If you need to reschedule, please give us at least 48 hours' notice and we'll find a new date at no charge. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled installation may be subject to a cancellation fee.

Do you work with interior designers and contractors?

Yes, we regularly collaborate with interior designers, general contractors, and property managers throughout the New York area. We offer trade pricing for repeat partners and can coordinate directly with your design team to ensure the installation meets exact specifications.
